ABSTRACT

I have been employed as Director of Kingston Racial Equality Council (KREC) since March 1990. The main responsibility of KREC is to help victims of racist incidents and racial harassment by providing advice, counselling and support in dealing with these crimes. We campaign on behalf of victims’ families locally, regionally and sometimes nationally together with other organisations if we feel there has been injustice based on the race or ethnicity of the victim. We also act as advocates for people facing racial discrimination either through employment or the delivery of services and especially if they are disadvantaged and cannot represent themselves.
