ABSTRACT
According to official regulations, in India the analysis of DNA samples has to be carried out by Indian scientists or laboratories and no sample can be sent out without following the guidelines of the Government of India. Despite steps to ensure protection of human rights and sensitivities of the participating individuals and populations involved in research there have been many violations, not to speak of intellectual property rights (IPRs) being overlooked.
