ABSTRACT

Ground deformation and vertical earth pressure distribution due to neighboring construction of shield tunnel were investigated using two-dimensional model test apparatus with aluminum rods. It is confirmed that a change in the vertical earth pressure and the ground deformation varies greatly in the existence of the looseness and the neighboring distance ratio between the new tunnel and the existing tunnel. In particular, the influence becomes remarkable when the new tunnel is excavated in the position about two times of the diameter of the existing tunnel.
