ABSTRACT
This chapter connects the rise of intelligent cities to innovation on local and global scales, related to information, technology learning, knowledge creation, and dissemination networks, and the subsequent needs for online management, communication, and collaboration environments. By developing sector-focused, cluster-based, or more complex intelligent city strategies, territories can set in motion multi-layer knowledge functions and innovations that make cities more competitive, inclusive, and sustainable.
