ABSTRACT

We have seen how the development of Western medical practice is returning, once again, to being patient centred, although the reasons today are very different to those of previous centuries. This trend is bringing the most advanced medical techniques and practices back onto a path that is converging with the aspirations of the poorest countries in the world. Western civilisations, with advanced scientific technologies in the medical field have once again begun to understand the importance of alternative therapies and a more holistic approach to healing environments. Poorer countries, struggling to finance sophisticated medical policies continue to provide a community based primary health care service often involving traditional remedies.
