ABSTRACT

This chapter explores how student internship and practicum prepare young professionals for the work force in the sport industry. In addition to a review of literature, a practical case is illustrated on a program in the United Kingdom called the “graduate training scheme,” in which young professionals are able to gain industrial experience needed to obtain a full-time role in the work force. Another case is examined to present a program hosted by a professional baseball team, called the “Trainee Program,” which is similar to that of the graduate training scheme and provides a number of unique opportunities for students to enter into the sports industry.
