ABSTRACT

A. Breton et al. argue that surrealism is based on the belief in the superior reality of certain forms of previously neglected associations, in the omnipotence of dream, in the disinterested play of thought. Welfarism is based on the premise that actions, policies, rules should be evaluated on the basis on their consequences — intended or unintended. The high-rise residential buildings largely invested in by investors for capital gains, use of unsustainable materials which are energy inefficient, the loss of public open spaces and activities, rising social and wealth inequalities propelling the consumerism and privatisation further are all symptoms of modern-day development in surrounds of Delhi. The energy consumption in Gurugram has risen sharply. Metro rail is the modern-day large-scale intervention in the built environment of Delhi and its surrounds that has added an important layer to the spatial landscape connecting masses and built places.
