ABSTRACT

Manysubstancesofaddictionhavebeenpartofsocietyforthousandsofyearsand havebeenusedbyworkersandaffectedthosewhowork.Inindustrialsocietiesthe varioussubstancestendtohavebeenconsideredseparatelyandthishasresultedin thefragmented,ambiguous,andconfusedattitudesthatstillexisttoaddictive substancesandtheiruseandimpactinaworkingenvironment.Itisonlywiththe recentoverallcommitmenttohealthpromotionandtherecognitionthatthose responsibleforworkplacesshouldnotbeconcernedonlywithoccupationaldisease thatanewcomprehensiveinteresthasbeguntoemerge.
