ABSTRACT

Organisational readiness for e-learning This can be defined as 'the mental or physical preparedness of an organisation for some e-learning experience or action'.1 The assessment process should consider seven essential components:

1 Business readiness: This refers to the priorities of the organisation and requires a consideration of the fundamental question 'W hy is e-learning being introduced?' This might appear to be a simple question but it is important to be clear since this will inform all strategic actions. e-learning is new and novel but that is not sufficient reason to embark upon an organ isational e-learning venture. There should be a clear and tangible benefit for both the organisation and the members of that organisation.
