ABSTRACT

In the last years, the world of graphic novels has experienced a unique revolution that has led to the recognition of this genre as a proper art form and to its natural acceptance in our everyday cultural life. Whereas in the recent past, these texts had been chiefly secluded to the dark and mysterious den of the specialized comic-book shop, nowadays, one can effortlessly find large sections devoted to these genres in the most famous bookdealers of America and Europe. From retail stores to second-hand shops, from research libraries to small neighbourhood reading groups, the graphic novel seems to have finally made its stand to stay, hopefully for good, among long-time respected classics.
