ABSTRACT
A cooperative, perceptive gentleman, Mr. Archer was eager to talk about Nora. He noted that she often tries to sit at the back of the class and hopes to be ignored. He even teased her about her silence, "hoping maybe some day she’ll speak". She’s “tenacious in athletics, best softball player in the school, but she won’t come for personalized help with her academics,” even though he urged her to do so. Testing had revealed the holes in Nora’s mathematical concepts, particularly in the area of basic measurement, so that essential topic became the focus of the Organic Curriculum at the end of the architecture learning block. The real-world reward came that day in the market, when Nora’s mother casually asked her to "go get a half-pound of bacon from the case". Nora panicked as she looked at the pound-sized packages and two different kinds of smaller ones.
