ABSTRACT

Note: English speaking students of Dutch easily confuse willen and zullen. The verb willen means want to, not will! Ik wil = I want, Ik zal = I will.

Sometimes, the main or action verb infinitive at the end of the sentence is left out. It is, however, implied. Note the following examples:

Kom je vanavond? Nee, ik kan niet. The verb komen is implied. Are you coming tonight? No, I can’t (come).
