ABSTRACT

The introductory chapter describes the key objectives of the book. In particular, the four issues that it aims to address are discussed: (1) U.S. domestic terrorism, not international terrorism; (2) gaps in research on female terrorism in America; (3) a different perspective from that of the mass media; and (4) the fact that terrorism is no longer a domain that is entirely male-dominated. The ultimate aim of the book is to demonstrate how the exploration of female terrorists in America is important in acknowledging the extreme aggression that women commit and the threat they can pose to U.S. society as a whole. The introduction also offers a short list of competitive works and discusses the lack of scholarly research that this book aims to remedy. The introductory chapter ends with a summary of the chapters that follow.
