Introduction

The increase in world population and economic growth are the main reasons for the growing demand for energy. According to the forecast of the U.S. Energy Administration, during the following three decades, world energy use will increase by 56%. One of the important sectors, with huge demand for energy, is transport. Its share in global use of energy is about 27%. Due to decreasing resources of fossil fuels and growing pressure on con-ducting proecological policy, covering this energy demand will require the gradual replacement of conventional by alternative fuels, like biofuels produced on the base of biomass.
