ABSTRACT

Contexts are important qualifiers for the understanding of texts and utterances. although the information contained in the contexts does not necessarily appear explicitly in the discourse, it directly influences the construction of meaning. The re-elaboration and interpretation of the contexts (situation, cognitive, and cultural) in texts is particularly indicative of pre-existing assumptions and preferences. In addition, change in contexts may explain change in discourses not so much in terms of the uttered text, but more in the sense of a change in the meaning. Even if the words are the same, a change in context may suggest a totally different meaning.
