ABSTRACT

This book can be used successfully by itself. It is also intended to be the companion book to Making the Connections: Women, Work & Abuse, (Murphy, 1993) which laid the groundwork for analyzing how abuse can create disability and/or vocational impairment. Making the Connections: Women, Work & Abuse also pointed out that the profession of vocational rehabilitation counseling had already evolved a methodology and an analysis for serving survivors of trauma, but that until now, this analysis and practice was designed to meet the needs of male survivors of combat or of industrial accidents.
