ABSTRACT
The book analyses the strategies that the Catholic Church adopted in order to rule the press and culture in eighteenth-century Italy, and it offers a new interpretation of the role played by the Catholic Church, which, according to many scholars, experienced an inexorable decline in the age of Enlightenment.
