ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book analyses the impact that the platform economy has on collective representation of the persons performing the work. It examines the paradigmatic case of one of the main labour platforms in Canada. The book explores the phenomena of the platform economy in Japan, which has led to various new forms of work referred to as “employment-like working style”. It addresses the complex problem of the informal work on the digital economy of Latin America, more specifically in Chile. The book describes the new way of working when parties enter into a smart labour contract, which is based on the blockchain technology. It deals with new forms of distant working, thanks to the development of new technology. Thus, the regulation on telework in Spain and the “agile work” in Italy are analysed in their respective contexts.
