ABSTRACT

If all you get out of evaluation is a diagnosis, you don't have much to work with. If the intervention of choice was simply a pill or medical procedure, little understanding on the client's part would be required, and a mere diagnosis might suffice. Keep in mind, though, that in trauma-informed treatment, the client (and perhaps others) will be asked to perform a series of challenging tasks that require both energy and persistence. Also, many of your clients have probably already been through counseling, perhaps more than once, and the problems keep coming back. So your explanation must be extremely good. It should demonstrate your knowledge and credibility while also providing a persuasive rationale for the treatment activities you'll recommend.
