ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of the book. The book explores how the communication habits of the natives of the digital age changing the ability of the student actor to live in the moment, both on stage and off. It analyses the basic human behaviors that is essential for acting students. The book examines why the students are choosing technology over direct human contact. It reviews the desired behaviors, and takes a peek beyond the acting classroom to the global implications. Technology is entering the classrooms, even without the devices themselves – but in the habits and behavior they create in the students. Technology is a lifesaver, technology is the enemy of humanity, technology allowed the autistic child to communicate for the first time, technology has made the child abandon her family and isolate herself from the family.
