ABSTRACT

The selections in Parts I and II of this volume are concerned with the nature of mind, in particular with the relation between the mental and the physical. The selections in Parts III and IV never depart from these general metaphysical issues, which are always at least in the background. But the following chapters are focused on two particular features of the mind, features that, though utterly central to our mental lives, have proven to be especially mysterious. Part III is about intentionality, Part IV about consciousness.
