This introduction presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discusses the theoretical framework and how power interacts at every level to produce and reproduce a bullying culture. It articulates the importance of power as a central component of the social experience of bullying. The book examines the International, Community, School, Group, and Individual factors. It talks about each level fits within the modified Ecological Model producing a bullying culture. The book presents the data from both New Zealand and the United States. It draws together all of the levels, connecting them to the stakeholders and how they can be involved in changing the culture of a school. The book also presents key factors that are important in any intervention/prevention program and how it relates to the larger social context.
