Introduction

The Takedown Project (funded by the European Commission) is presented and the content of the different chapters delineated. It is also clarified that this volume does not intend to ‘re-define’ organized crime and terrorism, but to discuss the findings of an empirical research against the background of the existent literature on the subjects. Pleasure, evil and technology are identified as supplementary variables to those commonly utilized in the analysis of both phenomena.
