ABSTRACT
In this chapter we concern ourselves with the ways in which normal adults handle the linguistic medium for conveying experienced events to themselves as contrasted with their manner of handling this medium when the audience is some other (nonfamiliar) person. The primary basis for our discussion is an experiment performed by Edith Kaplan (133).
