ABSTRACT
Diego Esparza is a graduate student in the Department of Political Science at the University of California, Riverside. His interests include Latin American politics, civil–military relations, police reform, and theories of justice in the international arena. He is currently working on an analysis of law enforcement institutions and their crime reduction strategies and how these impact the quality of democracy in developing states.
