ABSTRACT
At Staple Hill, many new children often begin at the preschool in January; 2019 was no exception, and the new children brought a change in dynamics, with the youngest children (some of just 24 months) needing a lot of adult support during their first days and weeks in the preschool. Waterproof clothing: For several months, the staff have been aware of the need for improved outdoor waterproof clothing. In January the new clothing arrived with waterproof dungarees and coats. The children have been engaged in various role play scenarios this month, and in particular, they often be in the 2–3 room. Another major interest in this month has been the birds that appear in the area just beyond the garden fence. Some of the children began to notice that two birds, in particular, returned over and over again. As mentioned, children at this young age often play alongside each other rather than with each other.
