ABSTRACT

Let me come straight to the point. The “comfort women” issue must not and shall not be swept under the carpet. The Japanese government today is hoping for what it calls a “biological solution to the ‘Comfort Women’ problem.” For the present Japanese administration, a sincere apology and payment of redress to survivors of the Japanese system of military sexual slavery of World War II is not an issue of justice, but a mere public relations “problem” that it hopes will fade away, as the survivors die of old age or the lingering effects of war-inflicted injury or disease.
