ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the work of three veteran journalists in the Arab World: Lyse Doucet of the British Broadcasting Corporation; Becky Anderson of Cable News Network; and Rula Amin of Al Jazeera Satellite Channel. It analyzes how technological advances and a more dangerous political climate for journalists affected news coverage of the Middle East. Based on interviews and qualitative analysis, the chapter illustrates the impact of industry changes on journalists, how they are adapting to rapidly changing technologies, and how they continue to work in an increasingly turbulent landscape.
