ABSTRACT

I propose to nominate, with a few exceptions, no more than three titles as most influential journals of the century in each of the major scientific disciplines and their most important specialties and subspecialties. I regard a science journal as having become genuinely influential when, over the course of decades within this century, and in a geographic area spanning several countries or a continent, the best authors with a journal manuscript on a topic, and the most motivated readers in search of journal information on the topic, consistently went to the same journal as their first choice to satisfy their needs.
