ABSTRACT

In the previous chapters, we learned that despite the great differences between humans and chimps, they are our closest relative. DNA evidence tells us that we had a common ancestor with them 5-7 million years ago. So how did we become so very different from them? We have used fossil and relic evidence to describe our hominin ancestors and surmise how they lived. We have used evolutionary theory and principles to attempt to understand the humanization over time. Finally, we have employed DNA science to track our migrations and interbreeding history. In this chapter, we pool that knowledge and provide an answer to that original question of how we could have evolved from apes.
