ABSTRACT

June is often a month when staffs review the year and reflects on any areas that need developing or changing. This includes the environment, resources, routines but also expectations etc. In discussions and reflections, the staffs were concerned that the level of involvement at lunchtimes was often very low. The staffs decided to trial a different system in which there would be a ‘rolling lunch’ option, in the same way as there is a ‘rolling snack’ option. June is also the month when transition routines continue, and at Staple Hill, one of the things they do is to make a transition booklet for the children that are moving from the toddler room to the preschool room. As in most toddler rooms, toilet training is an important aspect of the work.
