ABSTRACT

Kathak is one of the eight forms of Indian classical dance. The origins of the dance are largely attributed to the traveling poets of ancient northern India known as kathakas or storytellers. The term Kathak is rooted in the Vedic term Katha, which means “story, conversation, traditional tale.” Teaching with a one-size-fits-all approach will inevitably exclude many students, most likely students with disabilities, whose very involvement and investment depend on us providing a variety of learning approaches and resources. ”Drill and kill“ test prep can be thought of like a candy bar. Consider the wise words from Ryan McCarty with the Teaching Channel: ”Test prep worksheets are the educational equivalent of a Snickers bar. Students benefit greatly from being provided with choices, whether it's choice in how to learn something new, choice in how to navigate their learning pathway, or choice in sharing their learning.
