ABSTRACT

Owing to the increased usage of macroscopically anisotropic construction materials, like fibre-reinforced composites involving severe thermal environments, the present work of nonlinear vibration of homogeneous heated sandwich elliptic plates of uniform thickness made of orthotropic material has been undertaken. Stress-strain relations are formulated for each face sheet of the heated sandwich plate including temperature and thermal constant. Following the method explained in Chapter 28, a governing equation for the present case has been deduced. The time dependent nonlinear integro-partial differential equation, whose coefficients include temperature parameter, has finally been solved by Galerkin’s technique. For numerical discussion graphs corresponding to the ratio of nonlinear to linear frequency are presented for movable as well as for immovable edge conditions. The application of this method may be extended to other boundary shapes.
