ABSTRACT

Over the last decade, the growth and increasing visibility of Latinos have become evident to a larger segment of the U.S. population. The Latino/a population has doubled between 1980 and 2000 in expected places such as Los Angeles, New York (60% growth, in fact), Chicago, Miami, Houston, and many other large cities, but it also has grown significantly in many other areas such as Raleigh, Atlanta, Orlando, Las Vegas, Portland, Washington, DC, and in many small towns and cities all over the United States.
