ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the 77 hours of training that was deemed critical to the success of teacher leaders and principals as they engaged in distributed leadership (DL), in both the School District of Philadelphia and the Archdiocese of Philadelphia. It provides an overview of the rationale for the modules developed for practitioner learners of DL, and further provides a descriptive account of each module. The chapter explains how each module contributed to the overall training plan used in the DL Program that was intended to help teacher leaders and campus personnel is more skillful as individuals, and create teams where these skill sets complemented others. The topic of each training module was designed to prepare the leadership teams for issues related to and supporting DL theory. It explores how coaches' roles are instrumental to effective teams and new leader development. The chapter describes how the DL Program supported teacher efficacy.
