Naturally, the Leaner Leader needs to be well-versed in problem-solving critical thinking. The leadership role in defining the service demand requires facilitation and motivation skills prior to even considering execution. A strong understanding of who is requesting the demand and why is crucial to the success of Leaner leadership. Lewan’s research deemed the democratic leadership style as the most effective. Originally, all research performed on leadership styles promoted the idea that everyone had a specific style. Most leadership research suggests that all leaders need to be more engaged if they hope to lead teams in the right direction. Leadership is an essential quality which all project managers are presumed to possess. Leadership development refers to any activity that enhances the quality of leadership. In Western models of corporate organization, there are leadership issues that need to align with vertical integration, horizontal diversification, and growth by merger, acquisition and shareholder interests.
