ABSTRACT
Research costs money and it is paid for by all of us, as taxpayers and consumers. We probably get more benefits from it than from many other things that are bought for us, but we still want to see that money spent on research is not wasted. So while we are talking about protecting ourselves against incorrect conclusions from data, it is appropriate to say a few words about how our money is spent to get the data.
