ABSTRACT

In level 3-based playbuilding, theme-, character-and location-devised plays scaffold upon levels 1 and 2 learning as experienced playbuilders build on their previous units of work. In level 3 the teacher introduces sophisticated playbuilding concepts to the students and initially guides and facilitates the experienced playbuilders until they grasp the concepts of their playbuilding project. Reflective and evaluative strategies are implicitly embedded in all the units of work as students are constantly interpreting and examining the learning that is taking place in each project.
