ABSTRACT

The Right Honourable Liam Fox is a British MP for the Conservative Party as well as a member of the Royal College of General Practitioner. Born in East Kilbride, Scotland, on 22 September 1961, he is of Irish Catholic descent and one of four siblings. Following his graduation with MBChB in 1983, Fox undertook a number of junior doctor roles. During the infamous ‘ice cream wars’ in the 1980s in Glasgow, he was the casualty officer receiving victims of a ghastly arson attack. Fox had spiritually and aspirationally begun to move towards Westminster. He unsuccessfully contested a seat in his local council. Fox was Conservative Party Chairman from 2003 to 2005 but also during the Conservatives’ time in opposition he served as Shadow Secretary of State for Health from 1999 to 2003. Away from his earlier general practice career, Fox has had various interests including swimming, tennis and visiting the pub and the theatre to relax.
