ABSTRACT
Two electroactive structures of lithium cobalt oxide exist: layered and spinel. Usually, the former is preferred as an electrode material, since the latter is not stable during cycling unless there are major modifications. Layered LiCoO2 is widely used as a positive electrode material in lithium-ion batte ries and can also be used as a positive electrode material in aqueous rechargeable lithium batteries (ARLBs).
