Inthefollowing,thespeechactinventoryofSTACKisdescribedingreaterdetail. STACKdistinguishesbetweenthefollowinggroupsofspeechactscalled Information,Request,Agreement/Negotiation,Dissent,Question,Expressiveand InteractionMarkers.Speechactsareconvenientlynamedbyaverbstem,like INFORM,orEXPLICATE.Theyarecharacterizedbycertainpreconditionsthathave toholdandbytheperlocutionaryeffectsthattheyintendtoachieve(seechapteron LanguageandCommunicativeBehaviorforadiscussionofspeechacttheory).The followinglistspecifiesforeachspeechacttypethepreconditions,givesashort paraphrasewhatthespeechactisabout,andpointsouttypicaleffectsofthespeech actforthecommunicationprocessitselfandthefuturebehavioroftheaddressee.
