ABSTRACT

To meet the ever-increasing needs of better and faster networks, new network technologies have been invented at a rapid pace. With the invention of the ARPANET network in the 1970s, the Internet era began. Then, the layered network architecture was invented by IBM for data communication. In 1974, Ethernet technology was invented by Xerox for local area networks. Ethernet technology is still widely used by today’s computer networks. In 1984, Integrated Services Digital Network (ISDN) was created to support digital telephones. High-speed broadband technology was invented between 1997 and 1998. This technology has made Internet connections significantly faster.
