ABSTRACT.Thepresentstudyattemptedtoextend previouspersonaladresearchbycontactingadwriters directly.Previousresearchhassuggestedthatpersonal adwritersmaydifferfromthegeneralpopulationalong certainpersonalitycharacteristicsandthatcertaintypes ofinformationtheypresentmaybeperceivedasstigmatizing.Thisstudy'sspecificintentionsweretoexplore thetypesofinformationpresented,assesslonelinessvia theUCLALonelinessScale,andcommunicationapprehensionviathePersonalReportofCommunicationApprehension.Resultsindicatedthatpersonaladwriters whodivulgestigmatizinginformationexperiencea greaterdegreeoflonelinessandcommunicationapprehensionthanadwriterspresentingnonstigmatizinginformation.
