Crystal ball gazing for Poland is both difficult and dangerous, but the challenges facing Polish management training and development into the future are both clear and real. The future for management development in Poland will involve consolidation of these developments and a movement into new and challenging arenas. The clear advantage that the transition economy of Poland can realize in its development is the ability to eschew decades of experimentation and lost opportunity which are a feature of management development provision in the more advanced economies. The high value placed on the academic ‘qualification route’, suggests that formal Master of Business Administration and other more traditional post-experience management qualifications are likely to dominate on the supply side. Polish management has been influenced radically by informed international interventions, through external support for the creation of a Polish management development capability and capacity. Few have doubted the contribution of management competence to enhancing the competitiveness of Polish enterprises and industry.
