ABSTRACT

In order to select a professional group to be a model of openness to concepts of preventing iatrogenic damage, and whose attitude in this respect may be seen and copied by low-feasibility caregivers and their leaders, we need people who are secure enough to be relatively non-defensive. In addition, their role should constitute a leverage point, controlling the path along which many iatrogenic damage cases are carried, and they should be strategically placed to alter the functioning of other agencies. The profession that would appear to fulfill our criteria of status, location, and power is that of judges.
