ABSTRACT

Initial clinical NMR imaging was very difficult and tedious, and in early 1980, significant interest was developed in the clinical application of NMR imaging technique. In 1980, the future of clinical MRI was predicted by Goldman and his associates from Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School in Boston. The technique was accepted as a potential clinical and research tool to examine and analyze congenital heart disease. Once the potential of MRI in the medical field had been understood and explored, researchers from other industries started exploring the potential of MRI. Slowly the applications of MRI started to develop and expand in various industries, including agriculture, soil science, food industry, animal science, aquaculture, and engineering.
