ABSTRACT
Much work is done by people in small groups or teams. Some is inherently teamwork (e.g., playing football), some predominantly independent (e.g., call center employees, retail sales) but labeled a team for administrative reasons. Some jobs require both interdependent and independent work (e.g., restaurant servers, surgeons). Jobs involving no work in groups are hard to find and informal groups occur in most work organizations.
