ABSTRACT
The native speakers of English are at an obvious and significant advantage in this commerce of the corridors. Interestingly, the non-native speakers of English tend to perpetuate this inequality because English is a prestige language, and they, by the very fact that they have been chosen to represent their countries, are often exceptionally good at it. Gradually the use of Esperanto in documentation could be expanded, until all documents were stored in Esperanto originals, and only certain documents were translated into other languages. In interpretation the progress could be similar, with the ultimate goal of allowing people to use any of the six existing official languages in debate, but with interpretation only into Esperanto. Such a move would require a significant leap of faith, and a relatively modest up-front investment, but the payoff could be enormous, and efficiency and equality the outcome.
