Elements of a good assessment and review system include: Visible felt management leadership is when managers visit the production areas and discuss safety issues and concerns employees at their workstations and visibly show interest and concern in safety. Positive behavior reinforcement is another key to the success of any safety management system, and of all the functions carried out by leadership, is likely to have the most effect on the success of the system. When introducing and maintaining a safety management system, a schedule would be determined for the introduction phase of the system, the training phase, as well as the follow up and review of the results, successes, and failures of the system. Management has ultimate safety authority, therefore it is the only level that can effectively implement and maintain an effective safety management system. The safety management system Guidelines emphasize that occupational safety and health is the responsibility of management, starting with the most senior managers.
