ABSTRACT

The purpose of this introduction is to provide an overview of key sectors contributing to the growth of the U.S. sport industry in an effort to further the understanding of past and current trends of sport marketing in the U.S. With in-depth analyses of several contexts within consumer behavior research, this chapter is focused on providing the reader with comprehensive perspectives of social cultural impacts, growth in media, sponsorship and endorsement, branding, and disability sports in the U.S. Considering the magnitude and success of the U.S. sport industry, it is of the strongest intentions of the co-editors that scholarly knowledge and best practices generated in the U.S., as represented in this compilation book of research papers, can be shared throughout the globe.
